- The final exam is on Tuesday December 13 between 5:30 and 7:30pm. You need to study all the material we covered in class between Tuesday August 30 and Tuesday November 8. The final exam will consist of 5-6 problems that will require some programming for the solution. One example of a problem will be: write Map-Reduce pseudo-code to solve a certain data analysis problem. The final exam is open notes: you are allowed to bring up to 40 pages of notes bound in one notebook or stapled together in one package. We will not allow any loose notes or scratch paper; all notes and scratch paper must be stapled together in one package.
- Please visit the Student Feedback Surveys website http://uta.mce.cc/ or Blackboard at https://elearn.uta.edu/ to submit your feedback on this course by the midnight of Wednesday December 7. Since I am teaching this course for the first time, I would like to know how to improve it. You may give suggestions on the following: Is it better to have the PhD students only give presentations, while the MS students do a small project instead? Which other material would you like to have covered? (Storm? BigTable? Cassandra?) Would you prefer to have more discussions in class instead of presentations by the instructor and possibly get extra credit for participation?
- Here is a solution for Project #3
XSEDE has kindly donated time on SDSC Comet for all the students in this class.
